01 / The workflow

Choose. Caption. Share.

One video. A simple workflow.

  1. Choose your video

Use Apple’s Photos picker to select one clip. Your original stays in your library; CaptionAddr works with a local copy.

  2. Make the words yours

Generate single-word captions locally. Review the transcript, edit or delete words, reorder them, and choose your style.

  3. Save the finished video

Export a movie with captions built into the picture. Save it to Photos, then use Share Video to send it wherever you choose.

02 / Make it yours

A focused caption editor.

20 font choices. Size, weight, outline and an optional tinted background. Drag captions into position and check the result in the video preview.

All caption styles are available within both plans’ video-length limits. A small CaptionAddr watermark is optional.

Timing is generated automatically and aligned to a frame-rate grid. CaptionAddr does not currently provide individual start/end-time controls. Always review the words and their timing before sharing.

03 / Local where it matters

Your media stays with you.

The English speech model is included in the app. CaptionAddr doesn’t send your video, audio or captions to our servers for transcription.

The app uses online services for purchases, diagnostics, security and aggregate workflow counts. Photos in iCloud and model recovery may also need internet access. Saving or sharing uses the services you choose.

Will CaptionAddr work on my device?

You need iOS or iPadOS 17.0 or later and A12-class or newer Apple silicon. Examples include iPhone XS/XR or later, iPhone SE (2nd generation) or later, iPad (8th generation) or later, iPad mini (5th generation) or later, iPad Air (3rd generation) or later, and iPad Pro 11-inch or 12.9-inch (3rd generation) or later. Check the App Store’s compatibility list for your device.

Long clips need enough free storage and processing time. Older supported devices can be slower.

A Mac version for macOS 14 or later is being prepared for release. Check the App Store listing for availability before purchasing Pro for use on a Mac. Read about the Mac workflow.

Does it work offline?

Transcription runs on your device with the bundled model. Internet may be needed to download an iCloud video, buy or restore Pro, verify subscription access, or recover missing model files. “Local transcription” does not mean every app feature is offline.

Does it support other languages or subtitle files?

The current model is designed for English speech. Other languages and translation are not supported. Exports have captions burned into the video; there is no standalone SRT or VTT export.

Are captions always accurate?

No speech model is perfect. Noise, overlapping voices, accents and silence can cause errors or missing words. Review the entire video before exporting. Output timing, resolution and color can differ from the source; export is not a lossless copy or a guarantee of accessibility compliance.
